Conference On Future of Tank Storage

A virtual conference has been announced that will explore the future of energy tank storage, aimed at the petrochemical storage industry as well as traders, ports, the logistics sector, equipment suppliers and refineries.

The StocExpo event is being run in association with Tank Storage Magazine and carries the title ‘The Terminal Of Tomorrow’. It will take place on March 16th and 17th and is designed to enable all interested sectors to learn how they can plan for the future.

As well as providing market analysis as 2021 on what is expected to be another year of Covid-blighted trading conditions, prices and demand levels, the report will also look forward at the way tank storage terminals will work in the future.

A key premise of the change that is coming, speakers at the conference will suggest, is that while the pandemic will end in due course, the fall in the amount of oil being stored will be an enduring feature of future storage as industry and transport gradually moves away from fossil fuels. Therefore, 2020 was a sign of things to come at a time of transition to different energy usage.

Day one will examine how the tank storage sector is readying itself for the future, including the role of hydrogen, liquid natural gas and renewable diesel. The second day will focus on safety and innovation

The speakers listed include Jorge Lanza, the CEO at CLH; director of new energies at Volpak Marcel van de Kar, vice president of commercial development at Oiltanking Peter Van Wessel, operations director of the European Process Safety Centre Tijs Koerts and senior risk engineer a Aon Global Risk Consulting Nigel Cairns.

Commenting on the event, publisher of Storage Tank Magazine Margaret Dunn said: “With more than 20 speakers and four panel discussions this virtual format provides you with a unique opportunity to have your questions answered.”
